The search for a man who allegedly jumped off the Stemley Bridge Saturday is expected to continue Tuesday.

“We searched all day Sunday until about 6 p.m.,” St. Clair County Sheriff Terry Surles said. “We searched with two cadaver dogs from different search groups in north Alabama until about 11:30 a.m. Monday, when the search was called off due to the weather.”

Surles said both cadaver dogs indicated an area very close to Stemley Bridge.

“We will resume searching at 8 a.m. Tuesday,” he said.

Surles said the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department is not releasing the name of the individual who allegedly jumped off the bridge.

“We received a call at about 5:41 a.m. Saturday from a person who said his friend allegedly jumped from the bridge,” Sheriff’s Department Capt. Billy Murray said. “There is an ongoing investigation into the incident.”
