Two people were charged with drug offenses after being arrested in Childersburg Tuesday night.

Police Chief Doug Wesson said police stopped a primer black Chevrolet pickup in a roadblock, and the driver didn’t have a license or proof of insurance.

The truck was towed from the scene, but not before police found marijuana, pills stashed in an Altoids can and drug paraphernalia including scales.

Arrested were Dakota Woods, 19, and Shelby Lee, 26, both of Childersburg.

Wesson said the two were charged with first degree possession of marijuana, second degree possession of controlled substance and second degree possession of drug paraphernalia.

He credited officers Luis Mejia, Billy Cooper and Brandon Hughes with initiating the arrests, with assistance from the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department.

The case has been turned over to the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for prosecution.
