Peter B. Storey announced his candidacy this week for the District 4 seat on the Talladega County Commission.

Storey, a lifelong Childersburg resident, is running as a Republican for the seat being vacated by longtime Commissioner Jimmy Roberson. He filed his qualifying paperwork on the day qualifying opened.

Storey works for Tournament Pros, a company that provides promotional materials for golf tournaments, including hole-in-one insurance. He was president and CEO of the Childersburg Chamber of Commerce from March 2006 through December 2013, handling financial management and daily operations of that organization as well as economic, leadership and workforce development.

He previously worked for 14 years as a sales representative for local, state and national accounts with Vulcan Information Packaging in Vincent. Prior to that, he was a sales agent with American General Insurance in Childersburg.

He’s a 1976 graduate of Childersburg High School, and attended Central Alabama Community College and the U.S. Chamber Institute of Organizational Management.

Storey is also a football official with the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

He and his wife, the former Crystal Mitchell, live on Forest Hills Drive in Childersburg.
