A parade honoring the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. rolled down Battle Street in Talladega Monday. Members of the Vivacious ‘Dega Red Hat Society hosted the parade and featured the Rev. Betty Welch as grand marshal for the occasion. The Vivacious Red Hat members planned the parade as a way to commemorate King’s legacy and his practice of dynamic leadership through preaching love for humanity and as one who lived and died in efforts to bring love and peace to the world. In the photos members of the Vivacious ‘Dega Red Hat Society throw candy to children watching the parade.
