PELL CITY - Both a pilot and passenger walked away unscathed when the helicopter they were flying crashed Tuesday off of Dry Creek Road.

Pell City Police Sgt. Don Newton, the public information officer for the police department, said emergency personnel were called to the crash scene at about 2:27 p.m.

The pilot, who did not want to be identified, said the helicopter appeared to have some type of transmission problem and he was forced to crash land the helicopter at the Still Waters Farm on Dry Creek Road.

The pilot said their flight originated from Birmingham.

Federal Aviation Administration investigators were not on the scene and not expected to inspect the wreckage until Wednesday.
