Talladega police are investigating the theft of a 2005 Hummer H2 that was subsequently recovered in the county.

According to Police Chief Jason Busby, the vehicle was reported stolen Sunday night from in front of a residence on Lawler Circle. The owner parked it on the street with the motor running.

The vehicle was reported stolen around 9:20 p.m. and recovered by Talladega County Sheriff’s deputies less than an hour later, on Pine Grove Church Road.

Busby said the house on Lawler Circle had video surveillance on the outside, and the victim had been able to identify one of the people who stole the vehicle. Busby said the suspect was listed as an acquaintance, although the report did not give any further information on the relationship between victim and suspect.

Although a suspect has been identified, no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Theft of a motor vehicle is a Class B felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by two to 20 years in prison.

Anyone with further information on this incident should contact the Talladega Police Department at 256-362-4508 or call the city’s anonymous tip line at 256-299-0011.
