Several crimes reported in Childersburg

Childersburg police recovered merchandise taken in one home burglary, as residents reported a spate of burglaries and the breaking of several locks at mini warehouses.

According to reports on file at the Childersburg Police Department, a home on Third Street SW was burglarized on Jan. 17 after 7:15 p.m. Taken were a 29-inch Vizio flat screen TV valued at $250, a 50-inch Vizio flat screen TV valued at $600, a Toshiba laptop valued at $250 and a tablet valued at $100. A separate report showed the merchandise was recovered on the same night, at 8:23 p.m.

Another burglary was reported at a home on Childersburg-Fayetteville Highway between Jan. 19 at 8 a.m. and Jan. 21 at 2 a.m. Taken in that burglary were a 12-gauge shotgun valued at $250, a 20-gauge Mossberg pump shotgun valued at $350, a 52-inch Samsung flat screen TV valued at $2,000, a 13-inch Samsung flat-screen TV valued at $220, and a cookie jar containing about $40 in change.

Three separate reports showed break-ins at mini warehouses. At one location on Hagan Avenue, a burglary-theft occurred between Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. Taken were an X-Box 360 valued at $150, an X-Box wireless controller valued at $50, and a white headset valued at $25.

Also on Hagan Avenue, 22 locks were broken on mini warehouses between Jan. 16 at 10 p.m. and Jan. 17 at 4:25 p.m.

Eleven locks were damaged on storage units at a storage facility in the 32800 block of U.S. 280 between Jan. 16 at midnight at Jan. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
