A Tennessee man was jailed in Talladega Sunday evening after allegedly following a local family home from the circus.

According to Talladega Police Chief Jason Busby, a local family had gone to see the circus in Birmingham Sunday. As they were headed back home, they noticed someone following them and driving eratically. Once back in Talladega, they called the police.

The man following the family was a 65-year-old white male from Collierville, Tenn. The family said they did not know him.

Collierville is a suburb of Memphis with a population of more than 46,000.

Busby said the man appeared drunk, and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Several pills were also recovered from the car, although not all of them had been identified as of Monday afternoon.

The Daily Home does not generally publish the names of people who have been arrested only on misdemeanor charges.
