Willie Earl Orange, 71, was alive but suffering severe hypothermia when he was found near his home on 15th Avenue after the winter storm that hit last Tuesday, causing schools to close and traffic to grind to a halt for a couple of days amid ice-slicked roads.
Orange died Wednesday at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy confirmed.
He was remembered Monday as a former barber and well-liked former janitor at Childersburg High School. He was known by many as “Weo,” from his initials, and frequently called people “Daddy.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.
