Munford beats Saks in final regular season game

Munford scored a little momentum as they head into crunch time with a 44-43 win against Saks.

It was a tie game with just 17 seconds when Monteo Garrett came up with a steal and was fouled with six seconds remaining. Garrett sank one of two free throws for the difference in the game.

Tavon Lawson led the team in scoring with 19 points, while Logan Cooper was also in double figures with 10 points.

With the win, the team finished the regular season with an 11-10 overall record.

The second seeded Lions begin play in the class 4A area 10 tournament at Anniston High School Friday against third-seeded Cleburne Co. with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m.

VINCENT 51, CHILDERSBURG 46

Childersburg had another close loss Monday night. Vincent was able to use a second quarter advantage for the difference in the game. Childersburg trailed 8-7 after the first quarter, but fell behind 21-14 by halftime. Vincent pushed their lead to 35-24 in the third quarter, using the fourth quarter to hang on for the win.

Sy Butler led the team in scoring with 14 points, while Tylan Coleman was also in double digits with 11 points. Jamel Lawson contributed nine points.

The loss dropped the Tigers to 9-17 overall.

The team plays Holtville in the class 4A area 6 tournament held at Dallas Co. High School tonight with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
