The Talladega City Council presented a resolution to Dr. Harold Franklin Monday night. Among many other accomplishments, Franklin was the first African-American student at Auburn University, enrolling in 1964. As Councilman Horace Patterson said, “without Dr. Franklin, there would be no Cam Newton.” Pictured are, from the left, front row, Councilman Joe Ballow, Council President Donnie Miller, city manager Brian Muenger, Patterson, Councilman Ricky Simpson; and, front row, Mayor Larry Barton, Franklin and Councilman Jarvis Elston.
