A man could face additional charges after he allegedly fled from police Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Don Newton, the public information officer for the Pell City Police Department, said police were trying to serve felony warrants out of Jefferson County for Erron Guyton, 24, at approximately 8:30 a.m. at a residence on Frances Street.

Newton said officers failed to serve the warrants but about 45 minutes later the suspect was observed driving a vehicle by a Pell City police officer who pursued the suspect.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the chase, which continued south along U.S. 231.

Newton said the car chase was called off as the suspect approached Shelby County because of possible risks.

“They made the right decision,” Newton said.

He said Guyton could face additional charges stemming from the high-speed pursuit.
