A Clay County man walked away after the 2007 Ford Focus he was driving collided with a moving train in Talladega Tuesday night.

According to police Capt. Leon Thomas, the driver was on North Court Street when he struck the moving train at the CSX crossing at Coosa Street. The front end of the Focus was torn completely off.

Thomas said CSX personnel on the train were unaware of the collision until central dispatch notified them.

Two cars on the train were carrying hazardous materials at the time, but neither car was struck by the moving vehicle, Thomas added.

Neither the 26-year-old driver of the Focus nor anyone on the train was injured in the collision, he said.
