A Talladega man is being held on a $10,000 bond after allegedly selling a stolen truck in south Alabama.

According to Police Captain John McCoy, Hugh Joseph Peters, 40, was charged with one count of receiving stolen property in the first degree. The truck, a 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty, was reported stolen in Talladega in April 2011.

McCoy said investigators believe that Peters used the stolen truck himself for a short period of time before selling it.

Peters initial court appearance was before District Judge Jeb Fannin, who set the bond.

Receiving stolen property in the first degree is a Class B felony, punishable upon conviction by two to 20 years in prison.
