In these tough economic times, it is reassuring to see that Pell City continues its quest to move forward.

Mayor Bill Hereford is proudly announcing that city revenue is only down slightly, and he, the council and city employees are working diligently to hold down expenses.

He also notes that two European industries are considering Pell City as a place to locate, adding to its industrial and job base if officials are successful in recruiting them.

He has reason to be proud. These are challenging times for most and to be able to point out the bright spots is rare.

Pell City is going against the trends seen elsewhere, and we commend officials for keeping the city moving in the right direction.
