It takes more than a pretty face and the effort to walk down a runway to vie for the title of Junior Miss.

Plenty of work and preparation go into the competition that earns the winner major scholarships and a sense of confidence that will help her as she ascends from life after high school and beyond.

Talladega’s Mary Lauren Kulovitz showed she had what it took to be crowned Talladega County Junior Miss, and she will represent the county in the state program in Montgomery in January.

Our hat is off to her for this prestigious honor, and we commend others who placed in the program. First runner-up was Taylor Malone of Sylacauga, and LaQuacious Bresha Garrett of Talladega received the “Be Your Best Self Award.”

All three demonstrated their winning ways, and we congratulate them all for their push to be the best through their involvement in the Junior Miss Program.
