According to the Alabama State Troopers Office, Norman Nolan Poe Jr., 49, was killed when the 1992 Mitsubishi Diamante he was driving left the roadway and struck several trees. The accident happened about 10:10 p.m., on U.S. 231 South just below Floyd Macon Garage and about six miles north of Vincent.
St. Clair County Coroner Dennis Russell said Poe was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He pronounced Poe dead at 10:55 p.m. and said the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Also working the accident was the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office and the New London Volunteer Fire Department.
