Victory’s defense held Collinsville to just three plays in the opening drive and then the offense took over and didn’t take long to march down the field.
Senior quarterback Michael Kirby connected with Jordan Grimmer for an eight-yard touchdown pass on the Lion’s first drive of the night.
The extra-point was good to give Victory Christian a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Lions didn’t add to their lead for the remainder of the first half, but the defense kept Collinsville out of the end zone as well.
Victory Christian scored on the first drive of the second half with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Kirby to Grimmer. The extra point was good once again and the Lions extended their lead to 14-0.
Collinsville got on the board in the third quarter, but the Lions blocked the extra point attempt to keep the score 14-6.
With seven minutes remaining in the game Victory’s Joseph Sawyer intercepted a Collinsville pass to set up the Lions final score of the night.
Kirby scampered four yards to the end zone to give the Lions a 21-6 lead late in the game.
Collinsville scored their final touchdown of the night with two and a half minutes remaining in the game to make the final 21-12.
The Lions dropped eight passes and lost one fumble in the game. Further statistics were not available at press time. The Lions open region play next week when they travel to face Ragland on Friday.
