For 40 years, Lewis Kirksey made sure Pell City school buses were safe.

“It’s not like you’re working on something that’s hauling pulpwood,” Kirksey said. “They’re carrying precious cargo — children.”

Kirksey, 65, of Anniston started working with the Pell City School System as a bus driver in 1970. He later became a mechanic and in 1982 was promoted to bus shop foreman.

I worked for The Daily, when I was 12 years old as a carrier. I have always loved it because it was home town coverage.

I must say Graham Hadley and his staff sre really getting so great things done with the paper now.It seems no ones stories or comments are being cut or left out anymore. So happy to see the new impartial attitude this staff seems to have.

THANX! keep up the fine work, and be blessed.

All the content from the original site is still free. We have added all the content from the paper. The additional content requires a subscription, since it is everything from the print edition in a digital format. Still, the digital subscriptions are considerably cheaper than the print subscriptions.
