For those efforts, Brooks was recently honored during the Alabama-Georgia Boys Club Council Convention at Calloway Gardens in Georgia, where he received the Man and Youth Award.
That honor is bestowed on someone for a lifetime of helping children, and the organization could not have picked a more deserving recipient.
Brooks, who directed the Sylacauga Boys Club for years, is credited with helping countless youths with support and guidance.
