When President Billy Hawkins set foot on the Talladega College campus almost two years ago, one of his first goals was to increase the enrollment at the school.

To be successful, he knew student enrollment had to grow.

It looks like the efforts of Hawkins, the faculty and staff are paying off. The college saw a double digit increase in enrollment this fall — 16.8 percent.

That follows a doubling of enrollment from his first year, and it now has topped the 700-mark.

That is quite a feat, and its implications for the college are positive. With a greater student enrollment, the college is able to build on that foundation and progress toward a better future.

We congratulate all at Talladega College who had a hand in boosting enrollment. It is sign that the college is truly moving forward.
