Riley issued a proclamation offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the guilty person or persons involved in the disappearance of Kelley Henderson Howard.
Howard, 41, has been missing since June 2.
Howard was last seen at Family Dentistry in Riverside, where she worked as a dental hygienist.
“We are continuing to pursue leads,” Riverside Police Chief Rick Oliver said.
Oliver said he appreciates the St. Clair County District Attorney’s Office’s assistance in obtaining the proclamation.
“We want to give a special thanks to Gov. Riley,” he said. “We are hoping this reward will lead to an arrest and conviction.”
Oliver said he wanted to thank Howard’s family for their confidence in the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and the Riverside Police Department.
Riverside Mayor Rusty Jessup said he was glad the proclamation was issued.
“It is needed,” he said. “We certainly hope this leads to some break in the case.”
District Attorney Richard Minor said his office wrote a letter requesting the reward from the governor.
“Both the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and Riverside Mayor Rusty Jessup contacted us requesting help with the reward,” he said. “We were happy to provide assistance, and hope it leads to information regarding the whereabouts of Ms. Howard.”
Since Howard’s disappearance, family and friends have held candlelight vigils and prayed for her safe return.
Last month, members of American Legion Post 155 in Bynum and members and guests of the American Legion Rider’s Association passed out new missing person posters, renewing the search for Howard.
Howard is a white female with brown hair and blue eyes. She is approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and weights about 145 pounds.
Anyone with information about Howard’s whereabouts is asked to call the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department or the Riverside Police Department at 205-884-3333 or 205-884-2677.
