Every year, Talladega County welcomes tens of thousands of race fans to NASCAR’s fastest track.

The Talladega Superspeedway has become known for some of the most exciting racing anywhere — and we expect the races this coming weekend to be no different.

As well known as the track is for amazing stock car races, the Superspeedway and the surrounding campgrounds and communities are also well known for creating a festive, family atmosphere as we welcome people from across the country — and around the world — to our corner of Alabama.

That’s a tradition that we also expect to see continue, but this year, things are a little different.

This year, the October race falls on Halloween weekend — and the track and local communities are planning a whole host of fun and exciting events to entertain fans.

Dubbed “Hallo-Dega”, organizers have planned a “little bit of everything” for race week, so there will be something that will appeal to fans of all ages.

Costume contests, concerts, appearances by the Alabama Gang — even an attempt in Talladega to set the record for people doing the “Thriller” dance, are all planned to take place over the next few days.

While businesses and citizens in cities like Talladega, Munford, Lincoln and others in Talladega and St. Clair counties are always welcoming to fans — they are going the extra mile this year, especially to accommodate families with children who have come to the area on Halloween for the race.

We commend track officials for all the hard work they do in planning and organizing the race.

Likewise, we also appreciate all the effort the Talladega Chamber of Commerce, city and county officials, local businesses and residents have put into making this weekend extra special for the fans and their families.

And, most importantly, we extend a warm Talladega welcome to all the fans who are here to celebrate some of the most competitive Motorsports racing on the planet.

Race weekend in Talladega is always special, and this weekend promises to be even more so.
