Lady Lions win opener against Lady Aggies

The Munford Lady Lions opened their season with a win, as they defeated Sylacauga 63-57 on Friday night.

The Lady Lions jumped out to an early 17-7 lead after the end of the first quarter. The Lady Aggies fought back to cut Munford’s lead down to 31-26 going into halftime.

Keyanna Chapman led the way for Munford with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Keatrice Wilson scored 15 points for Munford.

Shakayla Thomas scored a game high 26 points for the Lady Aggies.

Munford will take the court again today when they host county foe Talladega at 6 p.m.

Childersburg 48,

Vincent 36

The Childersburg Tigers defeated the Vincent Yellow Jackets 48-35 on Friday night.

The Tigers took control of the game in the second quarter when they out scored 11-4 to take a 26-16 lead into halftime.

LaDavious Battle led Childersburg with 14 points. Tarry McElrath chipped in with 11 points.

Hope Academy 63,

Beth Haven 49

The Hope Academy Eagles cruised to a 63-49 victory over Beth Haven on Friday night. The Eagles used a 27-6 run to put the game out of reach in the third quarter.

Colby Cheatwood led the way for the Eagles with 11 points.

Motell Foster and Cody Gilland led Hope Academy with 12 rebounds apiece.

Hope Academy returns to action on Dec. 3 when they travel to take on Eastwood Montgomery.

Etowah 82, Pell City 78

The Pell City Panther lost their home opner against Etowah 82-78 on Friday night.

No futher information was available at press time.

The Panthers host Chelsea today at 5 p.m.
