A new family life center about to be built next to Talladega’s Mt. Canaan Baptist Church is not only a boost for the church it serves, it should be a boost to revitalization in that part of the city.

The 33,000 square foot Talladega Regional Family Life Center, estimated to cost $1.4 million, will provide space for the church’s top priorities — a stage for presentations, musicals and plays, a 500-seat fellowship and conference area, a commercial kitchen, a fitness center, youth activity center, senior and child daycare areas.

It identifies and fills needs in the community, and it will be a much improved use of the vacant property that once housed Wehadkee’s Chinabee Mill.

The center gives new life to the area, and we commend church members for their dedication to this project over the past decade, working to bring their dream to fruition.
