“It was a nice win,” McAbee said. “We have to get better.”
McAbee made her presence felt early as she scored all 10 of Talladega’s points in the first quarter. Childersburg was able to sustain McAbee’s scoring exhibition in the first quarter as they one trailed by one 10-9 going into the second quarter.
In the second quarter Talladega (5-3) buckled down on defense as they only allowed eight. McAbee continued to score with easy in the second quarter.
The senior forward scored all 10 of her second quarter points on lay ups and free throws. Her lay up right before half time gave Talladega a 30-17 lead.
McAbee continued to be the Lady Tigers only source of offense in the third quarter as she scored all seven of Talladega points. Freshman Malcanisha Kelley scored four of the six Childersburg (3-2) points in the third quarter.
McAbee opened up the fourth quarter with a three pointer from the top of the key sparking an 8-0 run to put the game officially out of reach. McAbee scored nine points in the quarter and finished with 36 points for the game.
“I just took advantage of what they were giving me,” McAbee said. ”I don’t try to take over, I just take what the defense gives me and if they are giving the looks I take it.”
Tyler Carter led Childersburg with 10 points.
Childersburg hosts Calera on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
