The Tigers led 26-18 at the end of the first quarter and extended that lead to 12 points by intermission. The Eagles trailed 58-44 at the end of the third period and Childersburg was able to hold off the visitors in the fourth to get the victory.
LaDavius Battle led the way for the Tigers with 18 points. Tarry McElrath added 17 while Jamison Cook had 13. Kinnis Leonard put up nine points while Fabian Garrett chipped in seven. Childersburg head coach Al Barnett also lauded the play of guards Isaiah Jones and McElrath, saying both did a good job breaking Calera’s press during the game.
Calera’s Deondre Haynes led all scorers with 28 points and Jeremy Hyde added 14. Ronnie Clark had 10 points for the Eagles.
Childersburg moves to 6-3 on the season and will travel to face Anniston on Monday.
GADSDEN CITY 92, PELL CITY 50
The Pell City Panthers fell to Gadsden City 92-50 in their area opener on Friday night.
Pell City’s Andrew Cagle scored 15 of his game high 19 points from behind the arc.
Tyler Harrell led the way for Gadsden City with 19 points The Panthers host rival Oxford on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Quintarius Hutchison scored 28 points to lead five Bulldogs in double figures.
Jabrielle Snodgrass added 18 points and Michael Rush, Darius Taylor and Harrison Garner each had 14 points. Anniston (4-6) plays host to Childersburg on Monday.
ASD 69,
DONOHO 45
At Donoho on Thursday, Matt Overton scored 13 points in a losing effort for the Falcons. Tate Thomas added nine points and seven rebounds, while Brian Westbrook pulled down six rebounds.
John Dorsey led ASD with 14 points. Anthony Robinson and Trey Gordon added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Donoho visits Winterboro today.
