Deon Long, 38, was discovered at his residence on 121 Pleasant Hill Lane in the Odena community. According to Capt. Mike Hubbard of the Talladega County Sheriff’s Department, a 911 call was received around 11 p.m.
Hubbard said there was no one else at the scene when deputies arrived. He described the investigation as “still in the early stages” as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.
“We’re talking to witnesses and showing photo-packs,” he said. “We’re still working the scene.”
Hubbard said investigators were looking for a vehicle that belonged to Long, a 2001 grey Lincoln LS. He said the car had a Barber Motorsports tag.
Investigators continued to work at the crime scene as of 3 p.m.
