Deon Long, 38, was discovered shot at his residence on 121 Pleasant Hill Lane in the Odena community. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Capt. Mike Hubbard, a 911 call was received around 11 p.m. Hubbard said there was no suspect at the scene when deputies arrived. He also said no one else was found injured.

He described the investigation as “still in the early stages” as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Hubbard said investigators were also looking for a vehicle that was taken that belonged to Long, a 2001 grey Lincoln LS. He said the car had a Barber Motorsports tag.

Investigators continued to work at Long’s residence as of 3 p.m. A Sheriff’s Department car and two unmarked vehicles were at the scene.

No arrests had been made as of early Wednesday evening.
