Before finishing up all the last-minute shopping details this weekend, running enthusiasts are invited to participate in the Frozen Feet 5k and 1 mile fun run in Pell City.

The race, in its second year, will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday at Pell City High School. Participants will notice a Christmas theme from beginning to end. The overall male and female winner will break through wrapping paper at the finish line and Christmas music will be played all along the course. All runners will finish in a tunnel decorated with Christmas lights, decorations and trees.

Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers as well as the top three in each age category (10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and up).

The registration is $17 in advance and $20 on race day. The first 75 runners receive a T-shirt on race day and the rest will be mailed. Participants can pick up their race packet at the Pell City Band Hall at PCHS from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday. Race day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Pell City Auxiliary Winter Guard. A map of the course is available online at www.usatf.org/routes/view.asp?rID=333224. The 1 mile fun run will begin at 9 a.m. and awards will be presented at 9:15 a.m.
