The Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce seems to have a knack for innovative events.

And the Retirees Fair planned for Jan. 14 at the Chamber Office is no different.

It is designed to attract retirees who have recently moved to the area or those who grew up in Sylacauga and are returning to retire. At the fair, they will be provided with all kinds of information about the city – from the medical facilities to the police department to parks and recreation to the library.

It is an effort to make them feel welcome while introducing or re-introducing retirees to what Sylacauga has to offer.

Retirees are an asset to the city, and we thank the Chamber for finding a way to recognize their importance, to offer them assistance and to demonstrate why Sylacauga is a welcoming community for retirees.

That ought to be a hoot! I'd love to be a fly on the wall as they try to put a spin on the stinky odor. They should be prepared with plenty of literature for the local medical facilities and maybe a stack of Mr. Kent Hall's business cards, too, since REEF is a newly welcomed member of the Chamber.
