Utility assistance a good program

Most of us take for granted that during cold weather, we simply turn the heat up. Unfortunately, for thousands of people across the state, that simple act is a luxury they just can’t afford.

But a $20.3 million grant just awarded to community action agencies across Alabama is offering comfort from the cold. Thousands of low income, elderly and disabled people across the state will have help paying their utility bills thanks to the grant.

In Talladega County, that means 300 people will have the help they need this winter.

It is a compassionate program that serves those who need it most, and here at home, we are thankful that it offers that much needed helping hand.
