On March 6, the off Broadway hit, “The Taffetas,” comes to the Ritz, paying tribute to the “girls groups” of the 1950s.
During April in Talladega festivities, April 9-10, the Ritz welcomes popular Three on a String, with their down home humor, Bluegrass, country and folk music.
Comic Henry Cho, who has appeared on “Comedy Central” and “The Tonight Show,” also comes to the Ritz that month on April 24. And “Branson on the Road” brings the city known for its entertainment to Talladega with comedy, country music, gospel and rockabilly.
Rounding out the season will be country music stars Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan — “Unplugged! Together!” — who will be performing June 24.
It is a line-up theater goers would expect at the Ritz — entertainment to suit any taste. And it is precisely what organizers of Antique Talladega and the Ritz restoration had in mind when they envisioned new life in the old movie theater with a transformation of it into a regional entertainment center.
Since its inception, it has been making a name for itself and for Talladega. And we applaud their efforts again as a new year and a new season begin, reminding us of what a gem the city has in this theater and its productions.
