Central Alabama Community College has been making a name for itself locally through its Pre-apprenticeship Lineworker Program, a hands-on program that is tailored to meet the needs of utility companies and cooperatives.

Now, it is getting statewide attention through its being featured in Alabama Public Television’s “On the job” series. It aired Jan. 17, demonstrating the skills and training needed to become a certified utility lineworker.

It also focuses attention on the pay potential of such jobs, which start in the $35,000-$50,000 range and can go as high as $100,000.

The CACC program is another example of workforce development through community colleges. And we salute the efforts there, knowing the college is providing a valuable service to prospective employees and employers alike.
