Organizers of the 2010 fundraising effort say the campaign has now been extended through March. Thus far, it has reached only 34 percent of its goal.
Volunteers realize what is involved — smaller incomes or no income at all — have donors of the past reluctant to give. Their fears are understandable.
But those who are able to give should do so. Far too many agencies that really help people in need would go lacking. And that just shouldn’t be.
We urge all who are able to give this year to United Way to follow through on a pledge.
Their dollars, no matter how large or small, offer that helping hand some may need. It goes a long way, and all should be encouraged to be part of the giving.
