TALLADEGA — Talladega Police and the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force arrested three people Wednesday on felony drug possession, according to an incident and offense report.

Juanita Lynch, 45; Mann Lynch Jr., 48 and L.M. Lynch, 46, all of Talladega, were charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5,000 each by Talladega County District Judge Jeb Fannin, according to Task Force Commander Jason Murray.

All three defendants were in a car on the top side of Amanda Bingham Park when they first came to the attention of Talladega Police patrolmen about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Crack cocaine, spoons and rolling papers were recovered from the vehicle, according to Captain of Investigation Ronny Jones.

Jones and Murray both said they believed all three subjects were somehow related, but neither was sure how.

Unlawful possession of a controlled substance is a class C felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by one year and one day to 10 years in prison. Possession of drug paraphernalia is a misdemeanor.

Does the city of Talladega really support this great basketball team or the Daily Home for that matter. I feel so sorry that this team does not get the publicity that they desevre. Does the city not recognize that this team is in the top 100 (#94) in the nation according to Rivals.com the number one website in America when it comes to recruiting high school sports. That is a huge accomplishment in my book, and i would like to congratulate the team for their hard work and dedication to be the best basketball team in Talldega history. I would also like to thank coach Chucky Miller for all that he does with the kids to groom them into not just athletes but fine young men. In my opinion this is just an example of how close the school board really pays attention to the system. This is a huge accomplishment (may noy be academic) that these kids and coaches should be proud of and given support from not only the school but the city of Talladega itself. Im a national recruiting analyst and it hurts me so bad when my colleagues ask why there are no write ups are real coverage by the local paper (Daily Home) about this great team. Its like nobody cares. Well i care, and im sick and tired of this poor coverage on these athletes. There are players on this team that can play division 1 basketball and its a damn shame that you have to be a national recruiting analyst to know this. There should be a reporter at every home game and even a traveling repoter with the team at all times. I know Talladega is a small town with a small paper, but not to aknowledge these kids is awful. The sports editor at this paper should get it together and get on his/her job because there are no excuses for this lack of coverage. As of today there are four teams in the top 100 from the state of Alabama. Those teams being #75 Butler High School out Huntsville,Al, #78 Hillcrest high School out of Tuscaloosa, Al, #94 our very own Talladega High School and #95 Gadsden High School out of Gadsden. I just hope things are better during the playoffs when it comes to a media aspect cause right now these kids get no love from our very own city paper or the citizens itself. This team should be honored after the season by both. For these kids to make the grades to play, work so hard in practice, and give it all they have in games, and have such a high ranking in the nation not state rankings but nation can not and i will not let them go without the recognition they deserve. These articles do not cover half of the game. And the player profiles are awful. For a good read on our very own Talladega Tigers please go www.rivals.com and read how this team has been a dominate program under coach Chuky Miller for the past decade. Check out coach Millers extremely high win percentage. Our players are not getting the scholorships they deserve due to lack of coverage by the local media. If the local media is not making a fuss about the gems they have in there own city or town, why would national media and recruiting analyst as myself make the rush to get there. Im trying all i can get this team the praise they deserve. Everyone please go to www.rivals.com and support the tigers.

BG, that's quite impressive.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I will miss doing this -- really, you can't buy entertainment like this.

Seriously, though. Keep contributing to the site. Nothing will change our communities for the better more than citizens speaking up and being counted.

It's an absolutely essential part of the democratic process that is the foundation for the ideals that set our country apart, and every time someone speaks up on here, whether they agree or disagree with the paper, it strengthens that process and those ideals.

And, believe it or not, people are listening and what people say here does make a difference.

It's been a pleasure being part of all of this.

He did, but it stepped over the line, so we had to take it down. BG, you know we can't print something like that -- innocent until proven guilty is the general rule of thumb. He hasn't even been charged with what you had in the post.

Now, that said, you have raised the issue before in ways that don't cross the line, so feel free to repost and rephrase your statement.

Thanks for being part of the discussion.
