Jobs should be focus of president, Congress

No doubt more than a few four-letter words have been uttered by Americans across the country in the past year and a half. Double digit unemployment, deep budget cuts in business, government and family spending and the worst recession in generations have given great cause for it.

But the four-letter word for the future is jobs, and it gives rise to another four-letter word, hope.

Encouraging is that our elected leaders finally get it. In a rare act of bi-partisanship these days, they are coming together to get their job done -- passing legislation that will boost the job market and pump new life into the economy.

The Senate is expected to take up a jobs bill next week that is drawing support from Republicans and Democrats alike.

They are talking on both sides of the aisle about tax breaks for creating jobs and for employers hiring those who have been unemployed for at least 60 days. They are discussing extending unemployment benefits, like health insurance.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said the message from the public is clear: “They said focus immediately, and don’t take your focus off jobs, the economy, helping the middle class.”

It is a reawakening of what is important to the people in this country -- putting people back to work. And it is a recognition by both parties that the emphasis must be on jobs and little else until this down economy shows a significant upward climb.

That’s what the people want. And that’s what they ought to get.

Does the city of Talladega really support this great basketball team or the Daily Home for that matter. I feel so sorry that this team does not get the publicity that they desevre. Does the city not recognize that this team is in the top 100 (#94) in the nation according to Rivals.com the number one website in America when it comes to recruiting high school sports. That is a huge accomplishment in my book, and i would like to congratulate the team for their hard work and dedication to be the best basketball team in Talldega history. I would also like to thank coach Chucky Miller for all that he does with the kids to groom them into not just athletes but fine young men. In my opinion this is just an example of how close the school board really pays attention to the system. This is a huge accomplishment (may noy be academic) that these kids and coaches should be proud of and given support from not only the school but the city of Talladega itself. Im a national recruiting analyst and it hurts me so bad when my colleagues ask why there are no write ups are real coverage by the local paper (Daily Home) about this great team. Its like nobody cares. Well i care, and im sick and tired of this poor coverage on these athletes. There are players on this team that can play division 1 basketball and its a damn shame that you have to be a national recruiting analyst to know this. There should be a reporter at every home game and even a traveling repoter with the team at all times. I know Talladega is a small town with a small paper, but not to aknowledge these kids is awful. The sports editor at this paper should get it together and get on his/her job because there are no excuses for this lack of coverage. As of today there are four teams in the top 100 from the state of Alabama. Those teams being #75 Butler High School out Huntsville,Al, #78 Hillcrest high School out of Tuscaloosa, Al, #94 our very own Talladega High School and #95 Gadsden High School out of Gadsden. I just hope things are better during the playoffs when it comes to a media aspect cause right now these kids get no love from our very own city paper or the citizens itself. This team should be honored after the season by both. For these kids to make the grades to play, work so hard in practice, and give it all they have in games, and have such a high ranking in the nation not state rankings but nation can not and i will not let them go without the recognition they deserve. These articles do not cover half of the game. And the player profiles are awful. For a good read on our very own Talladega Tigers please go www.rivals.com and read how this team has been a dominate program under coach Chuky Miller for the past decade. Check out coach Millers extremely high win percentage. Our players are not getting the scholorships they deserve due to lack of coverage by the local media. If the local media is not making a fuss about the gems they have in there own city or town, why would national media and recruiting analyst as myself make the rush to get there. Im trying all i can get this team the praise they deserve. Everyone please go to www.rivals.com and support the tigers.

Now isn't THAT interesting!! Remember the campaign? Let's see. Big businesses pay 90% of all taxes collected by the IRS. It's because big business is taxed at over 35%. Remember McCain wanting to give them tax breaks to keep their industries here? Right here in the U.S.? What was Obama's retort? "My oponent wants to give tax breaks to big business!" Yes, he made it sound like a blemish on McCain's. . . um, neck. So now, Obamanation wants to give tax breaks to businesses who hire people? The audacity of hype!! Gimme' a break.

I think we should all be afraid of this man and his policies. He says he is not a muslim but he continues to do things which say otherwise. In muslim belief he can not take his wife into any muslim country and he has not ,HE has sent her home before meeting muslim dignitaries. Also he bowed before the saudi king [muslim ]which is unheard of by a president. Also he continues to snub the d. c. christian churches. Not to mention his african grandma swears he was born there and the hospital has erected a sign saying so.oh there is so much more that has been uncoverd but i cant write it all .But know this is he purposely tearing down the american way?WELL look around has anything CHANGEd ?And what do the muslim beliefs call us?INFIDELS.so if he is a muslim plant then the only good job he is doing is tearing us all down.AS a true american with a valid birth certificate I say SHOW ME DIFFERANT MR PRESIDENT or go back to where you were born grandma misses you.
