Capt. Billy Murray with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department said details are still sketchy at this point of the investigation.
“What we do know is that three white males broke into a home attempting to rob the victim just before midnight Feb. 11,” Murray said. “The three suspects, armed with baseball bats, made entry and a struggle ensued. The victim was assaulted and has non-life threatening injuries. When we arrived on the scene, we found one of the suspects dead.”
Murray said a second suspect was apprehended about 25 minutes later at the Brompton Chevron.
“He had made it to that location on foot,” Murray said.
The third suspect was apprehended Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Birmingham.
“The St. Clair County Correctional K-9 Unit was called in to help search.”
Murray said the three suspects are from the Moody, Leeds and Trussville communities.
The Moody Police Department is helping in the investigation, which is ongoing.
