Be a friend, donate a book

Now that you’ve finished reading “The Lost Symbol” and your kids have moved on from Harry Potter, have a thought for your neighbors who are waiting for the books to be checked back in at the public library.

The Talladega Library Board asks that patrons donate used copies of recent bestsellers to supplement the two copies of popular titles the library buys.

The library’s appropriation from the county is down about $30,000 this year, so book purchases have had to be reduced accordingly.

Rather than let this year’s bestsellers sit on your personal bookshelf on the off chance that you might decide to read them again some year, donate them to the library and help your friends get off the waiting list.
