Comedy, music and more in store at The Ritz

Comic Henry Cho is next on the list for top entertainment offerings at Talladega’s Ritz Theatre.

Cho gives two shows April 24, one at 6 p.m. and another at 8:30 p.m.

Cho is a Southerner, he grew up in Knoxville, Tenn., and is of Korean-American descent.

His humor often incorporates the reactions people have to his accent.

To a lot of people, that in itself is funny Cho says.

Cho got started in stand up comedy in 1986, eventually moving to Los Angeles.

Cho’s humor is “family friendly,” said Tom Wofford, executive director for The Ritz Theatre and Antique Talladega.

Cho’s television appearances include “Bob Hope’s Young Comedians’ Special,” MTV’s “Half Hours Comedy Hour,” along with VH-1’s “Stand Up Spotlight.”

Cho has also appeared in three films, his first with Tom Arnold and David Alan Grier in “McHale’s Navy.”

In 2001, he was in “Say it isn’t So” with Heather Graham and Chris Klein. In 2006, Cho appeared in “Material Girls” with Hilary and Haylie Duff.

Chow a featured in a Comedy Central special in 2006, titled “Henry Cho: What’s That Clickin’ Noise?”

Also coming up are two other Spring Season events, May 15 and 16 it’s Branson on the Road with a variety of bluegrass, country, gospel and a little rockabilly thrown in.

Shows are at 7 p.m. May15 and 2:30 p.m. May 16. Tickets are $20.

Country music great Pam Tillis comes to Talladega June 24, with shows at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Tillis’s hits include “Don’t Tell Me What to Do” and “Maybe it was Memphis,” among many others.

Tickets to her performances are $25.
