SYLACAUGA — A status conference for the lawsuit brought by two Walco residents against REEF Environmental is set for next week.

Sandi Boone and Sammy Rudd filed the lawsuit in March 2009 against the wastewater treatment company, claiming the odors coming from the facility were a nuisance that affected their quality of life.

The status conference is set for Wednesday, May 5, at 2:30 p.m. in the courtroom of Circuit Judge Julian King.

This lawsuit is separate from the city of Sylacauga’s suit against REEF, which is being heard by Circuit Judge Bo Hollingsworth. That case is awaiting a final report from special master Ashley Cousins, who is investigating environmental issues in the case.
