BREAKING NEWS: Ragland wins 1A softball championship

The Lady Purple Devils of Ragland won four games in two days to win the Class 1A State Softball Championship on Friday at Lagoon Park in Montgomery.

Ragland picked up wins over Ariton (9-4) and Waterloo (8-1) on Thursday before beating Lynn twice on Friday. The Lady Devils opened the day with a 6-5 win over Lynn to advance to the championship game. Lynn defeated Ariton in the consolation bracket to get back to the championship game where Ragland won 3-0.

Pitcher Sommar Wright was named MVP of the tournament.
