Jason Murray, commander of the task force, said a search warrant executed at a house on St. John Street led to the arrests of the five Sylacauga residents.
Murray said authorities charged Steven Matherson, 56, Scott Harris, 30, and Brittany Yoder, 23, with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance.
Sherri Vick, 40, Christi Kelley, 37, Christopher Murray, 26, Matherson and Harris were also charged with possession of a controlled substance. Everyone but Vick was also charged with second-degree possession of marijuana.
Murray said a meth lab and about 3 grams of methamphetamine were found at the residence. He said manufacturing is Class A felony and possession is a Class C felony.
Murray said Matherson had a sentencing hearing set for this week before being arrested Tuesday. He said Matherson was sentenced to 10 years in prison on other meth-related charges.
“He was to be sentenced on Wednesday for previous distribution charges,” Murray said.
A $50,000 bond was set for Matherson and $25,000 for Harris and Yoder. Vick, Kelley and Murray posted their bonds of $5,000, according to a Talladega County Jail representative.
Also Tuesday, members of the task force executed a warrant at Lloyd’s Transmission Shop in Sylacauga. Murray said they arrested Lloyd Brownfield after finding 2 ounces of marijuana “packaged for resale.”
Brownfield was charged with first-degree possession and first-degree distribution. He was taken to the Talladega County Jail and his bond was set at $10,000. A county jail representative said Friday Brownfield had posted bond.
Murray said Brownfield was already out on bond after a 2009 arrest for possession and distribution. Murray said he expected a bond hearing for Brownfield in the next few days.
“We have requested that his bond be revoked because he committed another offense while out on bond,” Murray said.
