Fire gutted this Chandler Street home early Thursday. The occupant escaped injury.

The cause of a fire that destroyed a house on Chandler Street in Talladega Thursday remains under investigation. According to the official report, firefighters were called to 132 Chandler St. at 3:42 a.m. and arrived about four minutes later. The house was already fully involved. The sole occupant of the house was home at the time, but escaped safely. He does not, however, have any insurance. The fire was out by about 6:30 a.m., but was a total loss. Talladega police and NorthStar paramedics also responded.
